National Lottery Community Funding- 12/03/24

FoRC are proud to announce that we have secured a significant grant from the National Lottery Community Fund for our project at Rede Common. This project will provide a disabled access entrance by Thurston Drive. This initiative will ensure that everyone in our community, regardless of disability, can enjoy the beauty of Rede Common. Thank you National Lottery Community Fund for supporting our vision on inclusivity and accessibility!

The picture below showcases where the disabled access will be. This will provide access for users onto existing paths onto the woodland, Swale View Meadow, vision panel, Strood Community Trail and the hard standing where events are usually held. The project will involve a kissing gate suitable for disabled and wheelchair users; a short type one pathway which links to another path onsite; and dropped kerb to complete the accessible experience for locals. This will allow users to enter the nature reserve from the street.

“We are absolutely thrilled and deeply grateful for the support from the National Lottery, as it has been a long-held ambition for the Committee to ensure that everybody in our community can have access onto the common. With this grant, our dream of providing disabled access onto the common becomes a reality.” – Robert Heathfield, Chair of Rede Common Committee
